State, Accounting Association are hosting contest to highlight unlicensed activity education

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) today encouraged the public to vote for their favorite video in a public service contest for accounting students throughout the state. The contest, which offers cash prizes to the best videos about unlicensed certified public accounting, engages the student community in an issue that not only directly impacts their profession but that can also pose a danger to consumers. In addition to cash prizes for the top three entries, a donation will be sent to the accounting schools of the winning teams.

Public voting is available online at http://old.ficpa.org/ImpostulatorsVoting and is limited to one vote per IP address. The public may cast their vote beginning today throughout December 14, 2012. Teams are also encouraged to share the voting link with as many people as possible.

The top three videos that receive the most votes will be announced January 7, 2013. The team that wins first place will receive a grand prize of $1,000 with an additional $350 contribution to their accounting school. Second place will receive $500 with a $250 school contribution, and third place will receive $250 with a $150 school donation. More information regarding the contest is available online at old.ficpa.org/impostulators.
