Tallahassee, FL – The Florida Institute of CPAs Governmental Affairs department hosted a grand opening of its brand new headquarters on May 14, 2019 in downtown Tallahassee.
The Grand Opening marked the first official event held at the new office, which is located just steps away from the Florida state Capitol building.
“We’re excited about the potential impact we can make from our new location,” said Justin Thames, Director of Governmental Affairs for the FICPA. “We pride ourselves on our close connections to the Florida legislature, which means we can advocate more effectively on behalf of our members and bring them updates as they happen in the House and Senate. With its proximity to the Capitol, our new office enhances our ability to serve members in a tangible, immediate way.”
At the Grand Opening event, FICPA staff gave tours to an invitation-only guestlist that included members of the Florida legislature, FICPA members, and community leaders. Thames was among those who provided a debrief on the outcomes from the 2019 legislative session, which saw the passage of a historic $91.1 billion budget.
“Our goal was to remind our members and the public just how closely we’re monitoring the legislative and regulatory developments that affect them,” said FICPA President/CEO Deborah L. Curry, CPA, CGMA. “We were proud to host this Grand Opening event and give our members insight into how we work on their behalf.”
